Time for Microsoft to wakeup

Google, the arch rival of Microsoft basking in the limelight each time they come up with a new product or idea. Microsoft has a history of shying away from that kind of publicity for unknown reasons. It is time for Microsoft to wake up and smell the roses.

In the 1970s, under the direction of Co-founder Bill Gates, Microsoft promised that there will be a PC in ever home. It appears that they succeeded that bold prediction. Not only that, it delivered tablets, smartphones, wearable devices, voice recognition, and even smart homes. Where is the innovation now? When competitors are on an upward trajectory for innovation, Microsoft is dormant for last few years. One big problem in the past, the management was slow to recognize and promote new innovations. Microsoft spends $10 billion or so a year on research and development. Others like Google only spend around $8 billion a year. It should look at how it markets its star products and allow for it to be delivered on the Web. Explore possibilities of innovations such as Xbox Kinect to expand into other areas. Hope new CEO Satya Nadella recognize the progress others including Google is making and pioneer new realm of innovation dazzling the Microsoft’s fan base.
